Condition: An original poster in very good condition. With some faint marks of creasing to vertical margins and a few small, barely noticeable closed tears. Not mounted.
Notes: This is a rather unusual poster print. It was printed on black paper with silver and gold pigments. The paper also has a lower grammage than the paper usually used for poster printing and is therefore much more susceptible to being damaged. The works of Georg Staehelin (*1942) have always distinguished themselves through experimental design and the breaking up of familiar visual patterns. He studied graphic design in Basel with Armin Hofmann and Emil Ruder. After graduating, he worked in various design offices in Paris, Amsterdam and London. In 1969, he returned to Switzerland and founded his own graphic design studio. Georg Staehelin’s work has won several awards, including The Most Beautiful Swiss Books and Swiss Poster of the Year. At the 16th Poster Biennale Warsaw 1998, Georg Staehelin was awarded gold.
